Sleep paralysis is when one’s mind is awake and conscious, yet their body is asleep. It’s experienced as a frightening event paired with hallucinations. Strangely, many people who’ve suffered from sleep paralysis recall the exact same hallucination; visions of “a shadow-man”. This shadow man is a figure, a dark form created by the mind yet envisioned outside of it, often perceived as a male. If this is a nightmare, then how do I escape? And what happens to the mind, when no escape is possible?
